Roses and their meaning

Roses and their meaning
After doing some research I have come up with a guide about roses and their meaning. If you are planning on giving someone a rose I suggest you read this guide first:

Red roses symbolise sincere love and respect so you should give them to someone who you feel very passionate about

Pink roses signify grace and admiration. They are to be given to someone in order to say "thank you" and to show your admiration for that person.

Yellow roses signify joy and friendship and so should be given to friends and loved ones on happy occasions to brighten up their day

White roses signify love and purity. They are usually used in wedding bouquets to signify a happy marriage. However, you can also use them to tell someone that you find them "heavenly" and that you miss them.

Purple roses symbolise love at first sight and so are to be given to someone you felt affection for from the moment you saw them. (READ MY ARTICLE: "Love and Lust" BEFORE MAKING THIS DECISION)

Orange roses symbolise desire and therefore should be given to someone with whom you wish to pursue a deeper relationship

Think about it: Group vs. Individual

Think about it: Group vs. Individual
We all do it sometimes - we all try to be like someone else from time to time for one reason or another. However, I've always tried to be more of an individual instead of running to a certain group of people whenever I had a problem or a need to make myself feel better. Therefore, I used to be annoyed by those people who always needed to be in a group. I thought of them as weak and immoral.

Yet as I got older I realised that survival is one of the central issues of the human condition. We as humans have the need to survive in all areas of life - health, work, and of course our social life. We do not all try to survive in the same way, however. Some people survive in this world by being an individual while others survive by being part of a group. There are good and bad sides to both methods of survival. Here are some examples:

BEING AN INDIVIDUAL

The good:
you have more of a sense of identity
you will do more of the things which you enjoy
you will stand out of the crowd and be unique
you will stand up for what you personally believe in
people will see you more of as a leader rather than a follower
etc...

the bad:

you may end up isolating yourself from people
you may lose a sense of the desires and wishes of those around you
people may try to step on you since you're not protected by a large group of people
etc..

BEING PART OF A GROUP

the good:
you may end up with a group of people who always protect you
you will always have someone else by your side during times of trouble
you will learn from others and get inspiration from their ideas
etc...

the bad:
you may end up being superficial since you will need to change yourself in order to fit in
you may lose a sense of identity
you may not stand out as much since people will see you as one of the group
people may label you as a "wannabe" or "follower"
etc...

Now I'll just let you think about it:

Think about it: The downside of a strong government

Think about it: The downside of a strong government
In this day and age many believe that it is good to have a strong government to protect the people. There are many good sides to this. For instance, even the poor would be able to have regular doctor and dentist appointments. Secondly, all would have access to education which is essential to the economic development of a country. Im sure you can think of many more examples.

However, there is one downside which I have noticed. It is that whenever there is a strong government (or government who intervenes a lot in society) the role of the family immediately becomes less important. I live in a Sweden where there is a very strong government who provides almost everything to the people and I notice that this has caused many people who live in Sweden to become less family oriented since they don't need their family for survival. For example, if I ever ran away from home I would be fine - if someone ever bothered me I could always go to the police, if I got sick I could go to the doctor for a cheap price or free of charge, if I couldn't find a job I could get an allowance from the government.

In a society with a weak government (or a government who doesnt intervene much in society), on the other hand, you have to rely on your family for protection. Therefore, you become a lot closer to your family and have more of a sense of unity and identity. If something ever happens, you don't go running to the police - you run to your father or cousin instead. In effect, you will develop a much closer relationship to those around you.

Now I'll just let you think about it

Prom

Prom
Last night was my graduation prom. It was held at the Hilton Hotel in my city which was great since it has a very glamorous feel about it. The night started off with a drink of champagne in the outside parlour and then we had a lovely dinner inside a beautiful and luxurious room. From 11pm to 3am my friends and I danced which was great fun. Im so glad I went to my prom, it only comes once
